My mind is always wandering. It’s probably my default setting. I’ll see something and think “what if,” and connect dots that don’t naturally go together. It’s a pretty neutral but optimistic question to ask. I’m just wondering to myself with no intention of taking that thought further.

“Why not” is more action oriented. Your brain then comes up with reasons why it wouldn’t work and you’re left with two choices: let the thought die, or keep going. if you come up with solutions to each obstacle your brain just made up, you’re left with a checklist of how to make that initial idea a reality.

Resilient Curiosity is when you keep going. Sometimes that means you throw some old logic out the window, thinking thoughts you’ve never had, and flipping existing beliefs upside down. That’s where the fun begins. You get to be extremely creative in a world where original thoughts are rare.

Not every thought is worth exploring outside of your mind but daydreaming is a skill that takes effort.
